Can I give ear medicine to my dog on antibiotics for urine crystals?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 7 months old | 4 lbs

Would it be okay to give our little one ear medicine? Would it disturb the antibiotics that I'm giving her for crystals in her urine? Thank you.

Please do not give Bella ear medicine into her ear without the vet having examined it and then prescribed the ear medicine. During the ear exam the vet also checks whether the ear drum is intact. If not, then it would be detrimental to give medicine into the ear canal as it could then flow into the inner ear and damage it. In such cases we give oral antibiotics/medicine. Please consult with your veterinarian about which medicine would be appropriate.
