What are the pros and cons of mixing kibble with homemade dog food?

Homemade food can be great if done appropriately but it is very easy to get an improper balance of nutrients. For this reason, many vets recommend consulting with a veterinary nutritionist service, such as your state's vet school nutrition department, or alternatively you can use the website https://secure.balanceit.com/ which can help formulate a homemade diet appropriate for your dog! Great questions! Properly balanced home cooked diets can be a great addition to Kiba's diet. However, many dogs do not tolerate frequent diet changes and can develop vomiting and diarrhea as a result. If you decide that you would like to offer home cooked food with the kibble, consider consistently mixing the two diets together.
