Cat drooling after flea treatment, now sleeping. Vet visit needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 10 lbs

I did a flea and tick treatment on my cat yesterday. This morning she woke me up running around. I noticed drool coming from Both sides of her mouth. I called two vets. They said wash her with dawn. I was able to clean the area. She has stopped drooling but has been sleeping and not leaving my room. She's purring, wagging tail and affectionate. I gave her a little food and some water which she ate immediately. Do I bring her to the vet?

Given that Josie is now eating, drinking water, and acting affectionately, I would not bring her into the vet today. It sounds like she is doing fine after washing her with Dawn. I would bring her into the vet if the symptoms return, or she stops eating, drinking, and behaving normally.
