My 8-month-old dog has discharge from his private area. Is it normal?

My dog is almost 8 months and still has discharge coming from his private area. Is this normal?

Yes, it is normal to have discharge coming from that area as long as it's a yellowish-greenish pus looking discharge. It's called smegma, and it's actually coming from the sheath of the penis. Cassidy will have this type of discharge throughout his life.

    This is actually a normal discharge known as smegma. It is a yellow, sometimes green appearing discharge that is produced by the inside of the sheath. Many owners don't notice it for a long time, then will suddenly notice it one day. I would only worry if the area was swollen, or if Luigi is excessively licking down there. I hope that helps and all is well with Luigi.

    Yes, this could be a normal discharge called smegma. It is more common in intact males. As long as there is no difficulty urinating, frequent urination, increased thirst, bloody urine or lethargy, then there is likely no cause for concern.
