How long does Depo-Medrol last & can I give Bravecto after PetArmor?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Mu dog went to the vet this morning. She has really bad hot spots. The vet said he did not see any fleas or flea dirt on my dog but he believes she has a flea allergy. He gave her a Dep Medrol steroid shot and gave me a Bravecto chew pill to take home. I am wanting to know how long this shot will last. Also, I had given my dog a PetAmor flea pill a few days ago. Is it safe to go ahead and giver the the Bravecto or how long should I wait? I don't want her digging any more spots on herself. Help!

DepoMedrol is a long acting steroid that usually lasts around six weeks. It's not recommended to use more than one oral flea treatment at the same time. I recommend reading the package instructions for PeAmor, which will tell you the soonest time you can give it again. When that time has passed, you can give your dog Bravecto instead.

The Depo-Medrol injection normally lasts about 4-6 weeks in most dogs. PetArmor (nitenpyram) is a very short-acting medication that is only in the dog's system for 24 hours, and does not have any harmful interactions with any other flea meds - so it should be fine to go ahead and give her the Bravecto now :)
