My cockatiel's beak is overgrown and joints pop. Is this normal for birds?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 20 days old

I have a cockateil her name is okami. She is a little skittish but I think it's because she is uncomfortable. Whenever I take her out of the cage or even when she is in the cage sometimes whenever she moves she pops like her joints pop or something and not to mention I think her beak is over grown. I don't know what to do I'm not sure if this is normal or what.

If you are worried that Okamis beak is overgrown I would recommend making an appointment with your veterinarian so that they can assess it and trim it if needed. They will also be able to assess her mobility and comfort. They may suggest X-rays if there is any concern regarding her joints or bone structure and will be able to prescribe medications as needed.
