My cat is losing weight, vomiting, and has blood in stool. Is she dying?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 5 lbs

My female cat is about 7 or so and has lost weight she's hardly eating and when she does she sometimes does vomit which our vet had us put her on hairball formula food a few years but then started to get sick again on and off so they then said to switch her to something regular so we did just regular chicken flavored food being she's allergic to seafood and now today I noticed blood in her stool and with her age I know her laying around can be normal but she's just not her lately is she dieing?

Poor Baby! It sounds like she has something more serious going on with her, and it could be that her anorexia, vomiting, and blood in the stool could be caused by GI tumors, GI polyps, irritable bowel disease, or a foreign body, among other causes. I would take her back into the vet for a physical exam, blood tests, a urinalysis, and possibly x-rays to diagnose what is causing her symptoms so treatment can be started. She may have something that's treatable, and her current symptoms do not necessarily mean she is dying. Have her seen by a vet in the morning.

I would take Maow into a vet immediately. It's very concerning that he isn't eating properly and is having diarrhea with blood in it as well as lost weight. He could have a foreign body causing his symptoms, may have eaten something toxic or rotten, could have suffered trauma to his GI tract, could have GI ulcers, or could have GI tumors among other causes. He needs veterinary attention now to diagnose the cause of symptoms so he can be treated. Please take him into a vet now.
