Can my small goldendoodle safely breed with a much larger male?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 1 month old | 12 lbs

Hi, I am in the market to breed my first generation female mini goldendoodle and have a question. I have been searching for a small poodle stud, but it has proven to be difficult. I have multiple offers, however, from some standard F1 goldendoodle males. My only concern is that my dog is around 12 whereas theirs is around 55lbs. Can my dog sustain these sizes or should I avoid this combination? I will attach a reference photo of my dog and a potential male.

I would be concerned that this weight difference might result in puppies that are too large for Bella and that she could end up needing a c-section. She could also end up having fewer, larger puppies. I think you’re better off searching for a smaller male.
