Why is my dog vomiting often and acting lethargic? When to see a vet?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 7 years and 10 months old | 95 lbs

My dog has vomited 4 times in the last 36 hours. I can’t tell if he is being lethargic because he personifies the “lazy dog” stereotype. He is a lab/pit mix and is 8 years old. He has been on the same diet for the last 7 years. What are some of the possible causes for vomiting?

Possible causes of vomiting include GI illness, eating something rotten, a foreign body, or a pancreatitis. Without seeing him in person, I can't say for certain what is causing his vomiting, but I can say that when a dog is vomiting for longer than 24 hours, it's time to see a vet. I would take Scooby into a vet now to diagnose what is causing his vomiting so he can be treated. I hope this helps!

Your pup is so cute, but I'm sorry that he isn't doing well! There could be a number of things causing his symptoms such as parvovirus if he isn't fully vaccinated, GI illness, eating something rotten, a foreign body, or pancreatitis among others. Given that he has been vomiting and has been lethargic since Sunday and isn't getting better, I'd recommend a vet visit for him right away. The vet can diagnose what is causing his symptoms, and can treat him for it. Please take him into a vet now.

I have a 19month old male desexed bull mastiff. The last 4 days he has vomitted either once or twice a day. The first 3 days were all bile vomits and today has been food aswell. He had a food change over 2 weeks ago which he seemed to tolerate well.
Vomiting multiple times over the course of three or four days is certainly a cause for concern, since at this point we can't really write it off as some sort of transient nausea episode. Some of the most common causes of vomiting that we see in younger dogs include pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, irritable bowel syndrome, foreign bodies in the GI tract, and several other infectious and inflammatory conditions. If things do not look significantly better within the next 24 hours, I would probably recommend having him checked out by your veterinarian. They may want to obtain some blood work and/or x-rays to help in diagnosing the issue. Hope this helps!

No, the questions aren’t linked. I will usually be okay with an upset tummy for 24 hours, so if it’s been longer than that, Quintana should probably see the vet. The green means that her stomach is empty and she is starting to pull fluid from the upper small intestine (where bile enters). The vet may recommend a Parvo test, bloodwork, or x-rays to see what is causing her sickness, and can make an appropriate treatment plan when they have a better idea of the cause of her vomiting.

My dog is vomiting and is sleeping all day. What could be wrong with her?
There are many causes for [vomiting](https://www.petcoach.co/dog/condition/vomiting-1/) and lethargy in dogs. Your dog could have a severe GI illness, [pancreatitis](https://www.petcoach.co/dog/condition/canine-pancreatitis), a foreign body causing an [obstruction](https://www.petcoach.co/dog/condition/bowel-obstruction-in-dogs), or may have eaten something rotten. I recommend withhold food for 12-24 hours, and then feeding her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and white rice in small amounts for several times a day. After a couple of days of the bland diet, you can slowly add back in her normal diet. If she continues to vomit in the absence of food, vomits the bland diet, stops drinking water and vomiting water, has diarrhea, and/or becomes very lethargic, you need to take her into your vet immediately.

My dog hasn't ate in the past 2 days. His nose is dry and warm, he has no energy to do anything, he pukes a little.
Your dog should be seen by your veterinarian. Inappetence for this long, accompanied by lethargy is a cause for concern. Your pet may have eaten something he shouldn't have which has upset his stomach, he might have swallowed something, for example, part of a chew toy, that has gotten caught and is causing a blockage somewhere in his gastrointestinal tract. He could be sore from a hidden injury you are unaware of, he could have been exposed to some sort of toxin or irritant in his environment or this could be early signs of another condition or disease process. If he isn't showing any specific symptoms, I would still get him in to see your vet if he hasn't improved significantly. Your vet can do an exam, blood work and possibly x-rays to determine the cause of the illness and suggest an effective treatment plan.

Why is my dog drooling a bit,has a runny nose,lethargy,loss of appetite,vomiting,watery poop(no bloods)
It sounds like your dog is sick. The drooling can be due to nausea, and the lethargy, vomiting, anorexia, and diarrhea could be due to a severe GI illness, eating something rotten, pancreatitis, or a foreign body. I would take your dog into a vet right away for an exam, he sounds quite ill with all these symptoms, and he needs to be medically treated ASAP.

I'm sorry Julio is so sick! He could be suffering from a GI illness, may have eaten something rotten, could have a foreign body, or could have pancreatitis. My dog threw up last night and this morning and now has been walking backwards but is now just laying around acting morose.
Poor Wally! Vomiting can be caused by a large number of conditions such as intestinal parasites, pancreatitis, foreign bodies, and dietary indiscretion. Most of these conditions are fairly dangerous, and are possible causes for vomiting/lethargy lasting close to 24 hours. Your vet can perform bloodwork and x-rays, as well as an ultrasound to rule out the conditions above. In the meantime, I recommend keeping a close eye on Wally, and offering him small amounts of water and food (about 1/2 of his normal portion). If you believe Charlie ate spoiled food it is best to take him to the vet immediately. It is possible the food could have given him an infection, or may have caused pancreatitis which can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, tender abdomen and lethargy. Seeking vet care ASAP is best so that Charlie can get started on antibiotics and fluids as needed to help him recover.

Oh poor Scout! Given that he had explosive diarrhea last night and is still having loose stools, I would have him seen by a vet today. Whenever a dog has diarrhea for more than 24 hours, a trip to the vet is recommended. This diarrhea could be caused by a GI illness, eating something rotten, intestinal parasite, or a foreign body. These causes can also lead to him vomiting. The vet can diagnose what is causing his diarrhea and vomiting, and can give him medication to treat it.
