My 10-year-old outdoor cat has a growing ear cut. Is it cancer?

My cat Fred (male) roughly 10yrs has a cut on his ear that seems to be getting bigger this morning he pulled the scab off and was left this (see attached photo) my mam has been keeping and eye on the cut and research suggests it cancer , we are just looking for an expert opinion , he is also mainly outdoors and he is not a house trained cat.

Oh, that looks bad on Fred's ear. Certainly it could be a malignant tumor such as a cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. This is a cancer of the skin that occurs on unpigmented (white) parts of the body like the nose and ears. Please keep in mind that I cannot say this for certain without seeing him in person, and he definitely needs to see a vet for as soon as possible. I would take him into a vet first thing in the morning. If this is a SCC, he may need to have the area surgically removed. Please take him into a vet as soon as possible.
