My dog ate part of my shoe. Should I see a vet or just monitor?

My 18 lb dog ate part of my shoe. He's eaten a lot of inedible things and they've always come out. Just wondering if I should take him in or does this look pretty minor? Pet's info: Dog | Wire Fox Terrier | Male | neutered | 13 years and 1 month old | 17 lbs

So sorry for your shoes! It really depends how large the pieces were when they went down. If he tore it into pieces, which I would expect, then it may cause a GI upset but unlikely to cause an obstruction. The best thing to do is monitor him for any vomiting or diarrhea as this can be signs if a problem. There is no need to take him anywhere right now
