Is Nuheart a good, safe, and cheaper heartworm option for my dogs?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I am spending 50 bucks a month on expensive heartworm prevention I have two dogs. I read this is safe and the dose is 0.02 cc for a 29-58 pound dog. Also treats other worms etc. Is this safe as this is what is in other overpriced meds for same purpose. I need a cheap and safe way. Cheapest I could find in a tablet form was Nuheart from petshed is that company good and safe is the meds safe? It was 80 for 2 12 packs

I would never advise an owner to give just oral Ivermectin alone to treat heartworms. This is not conventionally and is not as safe as giving the hearworm formulated tablets. I am also surprised that you are spending that much a month for two dogs, as the typical price for heartworm prevention is around $25-$35 for a 6 month box supply. The Nuheart product, which is a generic version of Heartgard, is your safest bet here. Please let me know if this information was helpful. Take care!
