We would like to keep our ball python healthy and have him comfortable being held. So how often can we hold him and for how long. We would like to hold him as much as we can while keeping him happy and healthy.

There really is no set time. It depends on each individual snake. A new snake should not be handled for about a week after arriving home. A snake should also not be handled for 1-2 days after feeding. If it is cold outside or in the house, limit handling to prevent chill. That said, handle Bruce for 15-20 minutes 3-5 times weekly. If he seems stressed or tries to escape your hold, then return him to his enclosure or don't handle him that day.
