Hello! I was wondering what safety procedures you have in place at your practice when dealing with diseased animals? Thank you.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. Normally, when a clinic is faced with an infectious disease case, there are multiple precautions that are taken. First off, the examination room where the infectious dog was initially examined is shut down for appointments for the rest of the day until the decontamination process is completed. Staff members wear gowns, gloves and a mask to be on the safe side. There is also a isolation area in out treatment location so that healthy pets do not come into contact with the infected case. There are several cleaners that are used but we use accelerated hydrogen peroxide and Rescue cleaner. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
