My 5-month-old cat is small but active. Should I worry about her weight?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Himalayan | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 18 days old | 6.6 lbs

Hi. Noushi is 5months now & she weighs 1200grams . I think she needs to be 2kg. Her vet says she's fine & I shouldn't push her. She also took her worming pills twice by now. Do I need to do sth special ? Or be worried. She's so playful, energetic & she eats food but very small portions She craves alot for table food but I don't give her.

Noushmc might just be a small cat! If she eats a correct portion of food for her weight and age and if she continues to grow, even if slowly, if her appetite is good, the urination and defecation is normal and she is happy and playful, I wouldn't be worried at the moment. I recommend to record her weight every week to monitor the increase. Please post again on the forum if you would like to discuss it further. I hope my answer was helpful.
