Dog paw cut bleeding: Is it safe to wait until tomorrow for vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered

My dog cut his paw. He is bleeding a moderate amount when the cut is uncovered but the bleeding is minimal when a bandage is applied. He isnt acting hurt or hobbled in anyway. I will probably take him to the vet tomorrow but I want to make sure it okay to wait or should I take him tonight.

If the bleeding stops when a bandage is applied then you are probably safe to wait and see your primary veterinarian tomorrow. However, please make sure the bandage is not applied too tight (easy to do), as we don’t want to restrict blood flow. Pads can be difficult when they are cut. Sometimes stitches don’t hold up as well as they do in normal skin. Your veterinarian will help you decide if stitches are needed or not. Best of luck and I hope Zuko improves soon.
