My puppy has a raised pink rash near her genitals. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 5 days old | 15 lbs

My 10 week old golden retriever seems to have a raised pink pustular rash near her genital area. I just noticed it today and she has no other spots on her and this has never happened before! What could this be?

This is actually very common in puppies. It can be from a bug bite or just not cleaning and grooming well after urinating since so young. It may pop and pus will likely come out. The best thing to do is clean it with soap and water and apply neosporin. If more occur or it does not dry up and go away then see your vet for medication. Most puppies actually outgrow this, so hang in there.
