My dog's spay incision is bleeding again. How can I help it heal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 8 months and 3 days old | 40 lbs

My 45lb husky mix was spayed January 4th. She was given clavamox about 3 weeks ago because her incision was slightly bleeding. It has started bleeding a little bit again. How can I get this to heal properly? She's not scratching or licking the incision.

This is probably happening due to an allergic reaction to the suture material, it is quite common. these sutures usually dissolve completely within 4-6 weeks, which might be the time it will take to resolve.
