Hi - My 6 year old dog had surgery to repair his ACL one week ago, and is recuperating at home. He has been limited to a large crate during this past week. Today I noticed a hard-feeling mass near his waist on the same side as the leg which was operated on. It feels to be 1-2" in diameter. I am wondering if it could be a blood clot from the surgery? Our vet is closed today and I'm not sure if this could be an emergency or I can wait until tomorrow?

It is not likely a blood clot, but may be an injection reaction from a shot he received for the surgery. If he is eating and drinking well, then I would not consider this an emergency but would definitely have your vet check the area tomorrow
