A stressed snake will not eat and will hide or seek shelter whenever possible. it may coil up tightly and hide it's head underneath. A snake read to strike will usually lift it's head up and sway side to side looking for a target. You may hear a loud hiss or see it puffing it's throat out to appear larger.
