My puppy won't eat on his own and isn't gaining weight. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 7 months and 18 days old | 40 lbs

Please Suggest me some enzyme or vitamin which make my puppy hungry, digest food faster and gain weight. He don't want to eat by own. I have to feed him by hand all the time.

Unfortunately, there is nothing that I can recommend for this without seeing Bruno. As a puppy there are many reasons they may not want to eat and not gaining weight. He could have intestinal parasites or some disease process may be going on. I would recommend a veterinarian to perform a physical examination on him. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

I am sorry to hear about your puppies. If the vet has not done any diagnostic testing that would be my recommendation, including bloodwork as well as imaging such as x-ray and ultrasound to try to identify a cause for this issue. If anyother puppy ends up passing away, I would recommend a necrospy be performed to try to determine if this could be a congenital problem.
