My Yorkie has hard pimple-like bumps with white heads. What are they?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 3 years and 4 months old | 8 lbs

I have a 3 1/2 year old yorkie and she has 4 pimple like bumps on her back and 1 on her front leg. They r hard and one has a white “head” on it. She doesn’t scratch at them or seem like they bother her in any way but I hate not knowing what it is! They have been on her for about a month. Is this something I should be concerned with?

Without seeing a picture it is hard to say what they are. Yorkies can commonly have allergies that can lead to a skin infection and small pustules on the skin. They can also have adenomas that are benign skin growths that occur and appear as small warts about the size of pencil erasers. Pustules can be a sign of an infection and require antibiotics. Adenomas are typically removed if another procedure is needed and they are already under anesthesia. They are not worth anesthesia just for themselves.
