Why is my cat suddenly lethargic, not eating, and has a tense stomach?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 10 months old | 8 lbs

My cat has been slinking around when he walks since yesterday morning. Normally he wakes us up around 9:30-10 am begging for food and jumping all over us but not yesterday and not today. He does eat when we offer him food but didn't finish it the first time he was eating at it (not normal for him). He hasn't thrown up at all. It seems like he is using his litter box but I need to clean it out 100% to check this. His stomach feels tense and he seems to like this space between the dresser & wall.

It definitely sounds like something is bothering Kavek. I would recommend taking him to a veterinarian to get evaluated. He may have an upset stomach or he may have hurt himself. Your veterinarian can perform a physical examination and see what/if any diagnostics are necessary to determine the cause. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
