Is it normal for my guinea pig to purr and vibrate? Can I stop it?

my guinea pig pennie is olny 1 month old and every time she is picked up she vibrates and purrs is it normal?and can i stop it?

Yes, this is normal. Purring is typically associated with being happy and content, and Pennie may enjoy being picked up and held by you. No, you cannot stop it and it's a good thing, so enjoy that she likes being picked up by you! :-)

My new Guinea pig squeals and squeaks when I pick her up. I am scared that the way I am picking her up is hurting her. I try to approach her calmly and pet her before I scoop my hands underneath her. Am I doing anything wrong or is it normal for her

I think what you are describing is “popcorning” which is a normal behavior guinea pigs do when they are excited. They will bounce or pop up and down quickly. It sounds like Hershey is just having fun and enjoying himself!

Guinea pigs are very vocal creatures, but it will take some time for you to learn what are normal noises and what are not. I would error on the side of caution and have him looked at. Most places have a several day health guarantee, but you will have to see what your individual store will do for you. I hope he's back to his new home in no time!

Congratulations on your new pet! You need to consider that a guinea pig is a pref species so they are naturally timid and defensive. You can't train them that things are wrong in the same way as say a dog. With gentle and regular handling he should broke much more tame. Chewing is completely normal and i would provide plenty of natural chews and replace the water bowl with a ceramic one.

My guinea pig randomly bites me. She cuddles and falls asleep on me, but she will throw her bead back and bite me. What should I do to train her to stop? Should I be worried?
You may be handling Piglet too much, and she is becoming annoyed with you. I would not be worried, but try to be very gentle and if she seems to be getting irritate them put her down before she bites you. See if you can try to avoid some of that behavior before it becomes a pattern.

First off it’s about 3 guinea pigs. We got a brand new baby about a week ago ( a baby girl to be exact). A week later my friend who could no longer care for her two older male guinea pigs I took them. they are all in separate cages with food and toys
Congrats on all three guinea pigs! Squeaking can be a sign of many things. Guinea pigs do prefer company (as long as they get along) and if they don't have other guinea pigs to hang out with, the humans must make time every day for interaction. My guinea pig dosent normaly squeak but has been squeaking loads. She has recently had a urine infection and was quite ill. Is this normal?
Excessive vocalization can sometimes indicate pain or illness, so following up with your vet to see if Toffee's infection has cleared is best. It may be that she is also feeling a bit better and is more active/excited to see you and thus vocalizing. Taking into account other things such as her activity levels, how much she's eating and drinking, how playful she is, etc can help give you a better indication of her health and pain levels than just squeaking alone.

My guinea pig's voice sounds hoarse. Is this normal?
I wouldn't say normal. There could be a few conditions happening. I would make sure his teeth are even and there isn't an uneven surface causing discomfort. Oral and respiratory infections can happen which could cause a sore throat which could change the voice. If there are Cedar or Pine shavings for a bedding this can sometimes cause allergies with Guinea Pigs. Also a diet lacking in Vitamin C could be the cause. Always make sure you have the correct husbandry or it's easy for problems to occur. I would recommend keeping a close eye on him and if he is acting abnormal (not eating, drinking, abnormal feces or urinating) then he should visit a local veterinarian.
