My dog's back legs are weak, she's acting strange, and has gas. Why?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 6 years and 3 months old | 10.5 lbs

Our Shihtzu mix is acting strange today. Her back legs have went weak a couple times for just about 30 seconds, when it happens she makes a grouchy or scared look and she has very smelly gas too. She’s been fine, maybe a little more tired than normal other than those moments. It’s happened about 4 times today that we’ve seen.

It sounds like Cupcake could be having back pain or another problem with her spine. Intervertebral disc disease is fairly common in small breed dogs and can lead to weakness in the rear legs, although it is usually not episodic. It’s also possible that she is having an atypical seizure or some other kind of pain that is causing her weakness. I’d recommend having your vet examine her - it might help to video how she is walking and take it with you.
