My dog with pancreatitis vomits after amoxicillin. Should I stop it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Pinscher | Female | spayed | 13 lbs

My dog got diagnosed with pancreatitis two days ago. She had IV fluids the first day and the second day she ate a little dog food. She is on amoxicillin every 12 hours. She has now started vomiting an hour after giving it to her every time. She has not eaten any food since the one tablespoon she ate yesterday and her poop is liquid straight. Should I just stop the antibiotic? Why is she vomiting again when she was good all day yesterday? She still drinks water but won't eat anything at all.

It may be the antibiotic or it could be discomfort associated with the pancreatitis. Report the vomiting to your veterinarian and consider a recheck exam. Your veterinarian may dispense an anti emetic to control vomiting as well as pain management.
