Dog's eye squinting, watery after digging, won't touch. What to do?

My dogs left Eye is squinting and really watery. She was digging outside all day and won’t let me touch it. How do I help her

Poor Belle! If she was outside digging all day, it could be that she got something in her eye causing it to squint and be really watery. I would try to flush her eye out gently with cool water or saline. Gently run it over her eye from above the inside corner of her eye to get as much water over it as possible. Then get her checked out by a vet as soon as possible. If she did get something in eye, it could have scratched the cornea, and that needs to be checked out right away. Scratches on the cornea can lead to ulcers if left untreated. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. The vet can check her eye out and treat it as needed. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Oh no, poor Belle! She could have allergies, but she could also have an eye infection. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would have Belle seen by a vet today to have her eye examined, diagnosed, and treated.

My poor Bella got a stick in the eye while atving seems to be bothering her and it's watering more then usual
The stick could have caused a corneal injury. Excessive watery discharge and also squinting is a sign that there is something untoward in the eye, either a foreign body or an injury. You will need to take your dog to a veterinarian ASAP before it gets infected or Bella's vision is damaged. Please call your veterinarian for an out of hours service or the information for an emergency service.

I accidentally hit my dog in the eye with a tennis ball. Like pretty hard. She is squinting and it seems to have a film on the bottom left of her eye, is she okay? Please I need urgent help!
I recommend to have her examined tonight. The squinting could be due to pain but it could also be due to scratch or abrasion on the cornea which is very painful and can get worse quickly. I'm not sure what the 'film' is since I can't see it but it sounds concerning as well. Best to play it safe with Belle. I hope she feels better quickly and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Masie definitely looks uncomfortable. You can certainly try to flush her eye out at home with water or sterile saline. If you have a syringe or a turkey baster, this would be the best instrument with which to accomplish this. If this doesn't seem to help at all and Masie is still keeping her eye half way closed, she should definitely see a veterinarian. If she did in fact have something in her eye, it is possible that it could have scratched the surface of the eye resulting in a corneal ulcer. Sometimes, when the eyeball becomes irritated, dogs will also begin to scratch and paw at it causing damage. Ultimately, I don't like to mess around the eyes. I suggest having her looked at unless there is a miraculous turnaround and full recovery. Hope this helps!

She loves to roll on the grass outside, but today she did it a little to much and cut her eye on some debris. Any advice on how to clean it up?
Ouch, poor Bella. If she cut her eye, she has to see a vet immediately. The eye itself needs to be checked to make sure there is no damage to it. Leaving this untreated can lead to vision loss, which is why I urge you to take her into a vet now. Best of luck.

I have a 11 week old puppy that played outside all day with us and her eye looks weird. It's pussy and looks different. I can't really explain it. Super watery. It looks like the pink part is covering half her eye. It's not swollen.
Poor pup! I agree that her right eye looks red and inflamed, and I can see that her third eyelid (also known as the nictitans or nictitating membrane) is raised. Since she spent most of the day outside (I'm sure she had a blast!), my concern is that she may have gotten foreign material (grass, mulch, dirt, etc.) stuck in her eye or that she may have an ulcer or abrasion to her cornea. At this point, I strongly recommend taking her to an emergency vet this weekend because eye problems can rapidly worsen, leading to much bigger issues. Be sure to keep an e-collar (cone) on her to prevent her from scratching or rubbing at her eye, as this can make matters worse. I hope this helps and that she's feeling better soon!

I accidently hit my dog in the eye with a tennis ball. She squinted and we stopped. She was already excited with the game. But then she acted like she could not focus like she was seeing a fly or chasing a fly. she is at vet now. what would that be?
It is possible that her cornea was scratched by the ball or some debris and that will distort her vision. Or it may have been watering a lot and that could have made her feel like she was seeing something. Your vet will do an ophthalmic exam and check to see if her cornea has been scratched. Based on the results of their testing they will be better able to tell you what if going on and recommend an appropriate treatment.

Awww. Poor baby. She looks like they are painful. Their eyes stick out more than a lot of other breeds so they are very susceptible to eye injuries, scratches or even dryness. You could try artificial tears or some other straight saline eye drop. No medications unless prescribed by the veterinarian. Eye problems should be addressed quickly so if she doesn’t improve with just some saline flush or tears have her looked at. They will do a thorough eye exam and stain the eyes to look for any scratches

My Retrievers left eye has become fully Reddish n a lot Watery .This morning it was good ,I have 3 retrievers in home ,I thought one might have scratched her when playing as the reason ,but I am not sure .What can I do. . . .

If you suspect that there could have been a traumatic injury to the eye and it looks irritated, I definitely recommend that you have Dolly evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. This could be secondary to a corneal laceration which needs to be treated as soon as possible. Good luck!

We have noticed that on and off for about a month Betty’s right eye has been really watery and she looks like she is squinting. We touch the area and it doesn’t seem like it hurts. When we flash a light on it it looks like it has a tiny cloud in one
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! If she is squinting and there is discharge then I would be concerned about the eye. Squinting is a sign of pain. I recommend taking Betty to the vet so they can look at the eye up close. They may need to put a special drop on the eye to look for a scratch or test the pressure inside the eye. Once they know what’s going on, they can get her medications to improve her comfort level. Good luck and kisses to Betty!
