Can I walk my 9-week-old puppy? Fleas and house training tips?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 4 days old | 33 lbs

Is is ok to walk my 9 week old pup and can I get her a flea treatment of some kind as she has fleas not a lot but some here and there. Also she keeps peeping on the carpet just a few drops every now and then, if that her marking her territory?

It's a really good idea to get Zoe started walking on the leash. Avoid areas where there are lots of other dogs that you don't know, since she's not fully vaccinated yet. I would recommend checking with her veterinarian about flea prevention, but there are several available at pet stores. The topical options generally don't work as well as the oral (prescription) ones unfortunately. Urinating in the house could be that she needs to go out more frequently, is still learning house training, or has a urinary tract infection. I recommend checking this out: https://drsophiayin.com/blog/entry/a_foolproof_potty-training_plan/ and then letting your vet know if that doesn't work. Enjoy your pup!
