What causes pink, sore skin on a new dog and how can I treat it?

Pet's info: Dog | Staffordshire Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 28 lbs

Dogs first week with us skin is pink and has a sore. Doesn’t seem to be in pain but don’t want it to get worse. Please could someone tell me what it is

It may be from a collar irritation and pulling or from scratching due to fleas or an allergen. I would clean the area with soap and water and try to rub or brush out the scabs to clean the fur. This will allow you to better treat the skin. From there you can alternate cortisone cream and Neosporin topically to help heal it. If it is not improving after a few days of this, then she will need to be seen.
