My cat has reabsorbed teeth but no pain. Should I still remove them?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 10.3 lbs

My 10 yr old cat, Samy, was diagnosed as needing 2 teeth extracted due to their being reabsorbed. He does not seem to be in pain, as he is still eating his dry cat food. If there are two bad teeth now, does it usually follow that the others will also become diseased? What would happen if these teeth were not removed?

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. It is possible that if these teeth were left in that they would affect the surrounding teeth, which is why it would be important to have them removed. If the teeth are left in, they will likely continue resorbing but they can become quite painful if not addressed. I would recommend having these teeth addressed sooner rather than later. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
