Cat bleeding after fight, no emergency vet. Can it wait until morning?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 4 years and 1 month old

My 4 year old male cat got into a fight (with another cat I believe) tonight and came home bleeding! I'm very worried. There are no 24 hour vets within an hour and a half of me. Should I drive the distance and take him tonight? Can it wait Untill morning? It there anything I can do?

I just realized that it is after midnight where you are and by the time you get to the vet it will be around 3 am. If you can get Cosmic to a veterinarian first thing in the morning and the bleeding has stopped then he should be ok to see your vet in the morning. If you do that please confine him and place an elizabethan collar on him so he does not scratch the lesions. Have a good night and I hope he feels better soon.

I recommend taking Cosmic to a veterinarian. This area needs to be shaved, cleaned and treated. He also needs a rabies vaccination. My concern is, is there more damage? What happens if the damage is worse once the lesions are cleaned? The veterinarian may just clean up the lesions, give the vaccination, prescribe antibiotics and pain medication but Cosmic will feel better soon and the lesions are getting treated as soon as possible. Thank you
