Got a 6-month-old puppy? Answers on walks, food, spaying, and shyness

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 22 days old | 39 lbs

I have a few question if that’s alright. 1) how much should a puppy walk at almost 6 mo? 2) is Natures Recipe Puppy okay for her she loves it read a good brand (I don’t like Iams, Science Diet and Canin Royal due to bad ingredients) 3) how many people should she see a day she is a bit shy getting over it fairly quickly? Should she be greeted or just passing by counts? 4) Should I spay her before or after 6 months? Thanks all!

1) how much should a puppy walk at almost 6 mo? I would take SIe on at least two walks a day. Getting her used to the leash is a good thing. You can do two 15 minute walks or even 3. The walks are great because it will get her energy out. 2) is Natures Recipe Puppy okay for her she loves it read a good brand Natures Recipe puppy is perfectly fine for her to eat. 3) how many people should she see a day she is a bit shy getting over it fairly quickly? Should she be greeted or just passing by counts? It is always a good idea to have people great her. Make sure they get down to her level and greet her. Having them offer her a treat or toy is also a good idea. You can always work with a trainer to help. 4) Should I spay her before or after 6 months? I recommend spaying her at 6 months. You want to spay her before her first heat cycle. I hope this information helps and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
