Our three year old Plummer Terrier has angoedema (hives) brought on by strenuous exercise (99 per cent certain). We’re aware of some treatments BUT wondered if there is anything which might prevent its onset.

I'll have to admit that I've never heard of strenuous exercise causing hives, but after doing some research I see that there are a very small number of cases reported in intact bitches prior to going into estrus. As I see that Sasha is already spayed, this seems unlikely, so I would probably recommend trial of allergy therapies and maybe even consider a hypoallergenic diet trial. Another idea might be to give a drug that blocks histamine release (and may pre-treat for hives) such as famotadine prior to any exercise.
