Why is my dog producing less stool on a chicken and rice diet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Do dogs on a chicken and rice diet produce less stool. I haven't seen any stool really since feeding it starting 2 days ago. Do I need more chicken? I am going to be adding hard food soon. I had a dog die from a unknown GI issue she had for 3 months and since she died my two dogs have been licking their lips very often and their arms someone vomited what looked to be white beads but wasn't beads. I don't know if they caught something from her or if they are stressed from her death or?

Chicken and rice is easy on the GI tract and highly digestible, so you'll see less stool. Once you start feeding dog food regularly, you should see an increase in stool production. The lip licking may be a symptom of nausea or a stress. Survey the area in and around the home for anything they could be getting into. This includes trash cans, animal feed, Animal feces or vegetation.
