My cat licked cheesecake frosting & ate chocolate chip. Is he okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 years and 6 months old | 19 lbs

I have a cat.He is 19 pounds, healthy just very built, and he is orange. I had a piece of chocolate cheesecake laying out on my counter while I made a trip to the bathroom and when I came back he was on the table next to my cake. He had only licked a bit of the frosting off and ate one of the little chocolate chips on it. Will he be ok? Is that enough to hurt him? What should I do?

That was naughty of Kai to lick the cheesecake! Given his weight and that fact that he only ate a little bit of the frosting and one chocolate chip, he should be fine, and I would not be concerned :-)
