You can start training your puppy right away :) The best way to train is to use treats to show Tukas what you want him to do, then reward with the treat when he gets it right. You can teach sit, lie down, stay, come, and heel this way very easily with most puppies. If you want more detailed information on puppy training, I would highly recommend the book "Perfect Puppy in 7 Days" by Dr. Sophia Yin. It's great for new puppy owners, and goes into much more detail on how to train your puppy.

Gentle training should begin the day you bring a puppy home. You show him where his food and water are, teach him to do his business outside, etc. You can start with the sit command--have him sit and wait for his dinner. When he is 3-4 months old, you can (depending on his readiness) enroll him in a good basic obedience class. i do not recommend training books or videos, because there is no instructor right there with you to make surre you're doing things right.
