Why is my dog scratching, losing fur, and getting hives?

My dog has developed small hives on her back. She has been scratching more & scratching off some of her fur. Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 3 years and 7 months old | 65 lbs
