My senior dog is drooling, not eating. Is it a seizure or illness?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | neutered | 10 years and 2 months old | 77 lbs

My dog has started drooling excessively and isn't eating. He usually guzzles his food so it is quite strange for him. His eyes have also got a blank look. He is a golden retriever and is 10 years old. He has a history of seizures but they usually come on unexpectedly. I was just wondering if this could be a prelude to a seizure or is it just getting old or a stomach bug maybe?

It sounds like to me that Charlie may have severe dental problems causing this excessive drooling and not wanting to eat. He could also have a GI illness causing his symptoms. I would take Charlie into a vet first thing in the morning for an exam.
