Puppy has swollen belly, bloody stool. What to do if vet is out?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 12 days old

My dog has a swollen belly(with a clear fluid inside her skin), jaws and legs. She cannot walk normally because of her big swollen belly. She still have an appetite to eat her food and drink water but her stool is dark red almost black and sometimes watery red. She's 3mos old and I am so worried for her. I dont know what to do since her vet is out of town. Is there any first aid that i could apply while her vet is not around?

Oh dear! These are very concerning signs - I would be worried that Kisses may have a serious problem such as internal bleeding, heart or liver disease, or a severe infection of some kind. I'm afraid that there isn't really anything you can do at home for a problem this serious - she really needs to be seen by a vet immediately. If her regular vet is out of town, I would take her to another vet today for an exam and some diagnostic testing to find out what's wrong.
