My kitten drags her bum sometimes. Is it worms or something serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 28 days old

I have a 1 yr old kitten who has started dragging her bum on the floor. I've only noticed her doing it a hand full of times and the incidents are week/months apart. She is eating, drinking, playing and going to the box normally (she shares a box with her brother and while I don't know what belongs to whom everything points to both cats going normally) is this a behavior I should worry about?

Yes, I would worry about it in that it's a sign of something medically wrong, such as intestinal worms or anal sac impaction, but it's not serious at all. I would take Talia into the vet with a sample of her feces for the vet to examine tomorrow. The vet can look at her feces under the microscope to diagnose if she does have worms, and can prescribe a deworming treatment for her. The vet can also express her anal sacs.
