Why is my dog foaming at the mouth after playing? Is it normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Toy Poodle | Female | spayed | 1 year old

I took my poodle to the park yesterday. She was playing being herself. I notice a small amount of white foam coming out of her mouth. I looked closer and just just started running and continue being herself. Today was the same. Playing, eating.being herself. Should I worry about what happen yesterday?

It's very common for dogs to have a bit of foam on their tongue or near their mouth if they have been running and playing hard - this happens because they are panting hard during exercise, which dries out their mouth and makes their saliva thicker, causing it to look foamy. As long as Mia is acting normal otherwise, this should not be any cause for concern :)
