Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 28 days old
We were in the process of adopting a French bulldog puppy when a litter mate scratched our puppies eye before we could pick her up. The eye is red and foggy, is there a chance she can recover from this? I can also send a photo.

Poor Piper! I'm sorry to hear that she hurt her eye - what rotten timing! Without seeing the injury, it's hard to say whether this is something that will cause permanent damage or not. Minor eye injuries such as corneal scratches are relatively common in dogs, and usually heal up very well with antibiotics and anti-inflammatories with no long-term effects. But if the eye has actually been punctured, or if any of the internal structures have been damaged, this could potentially result in long term problems or even vision loss in the affected eye. There isn't any way to share photos on the forum, but you are welcome to request a one-on-one consultation with one of us if you like - this would allow you to upload your photos for us to view. I will caution you, however, that we can't make any specific diagnosis without an actual in-person exam - we can give a general "gut impression", but you will still need to have the puppy's eye evaluated by a veterinarian in person to get a definite answer. I'm not sure from your question if Piper is still with her breeder or if you have already picked her up, but I would definitely recommend taking her to a vet right away to have the eye evaluated - her breeder should do this if she still has the puppy. The vet can tell you after the exam what treatment will be needed and whether any long-term issues are expected.
