Dog reverse sneezing and lethargic after Pet Calm. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 3 years and 1 month old | 25 lbs

My dog is experiencing excessive reverse sneezing. Initially he was still mobile and wagging his tail, but now he is just laying down and seems "out of it". He's a 3 year old beagle mix. I did give him "Pet Calm" about 12 hours ago, to manage his anxiety while traveling

Walcott should be examined by a veterinarian. The Pet Calm, if administered just once should have been out of his system by now. The excessive reverse sneezing can be caused by foreign body, nasal polyps, collapsed trachea or respiratory infection. Any of these conditions may be aggravated by the stress of travel. An episode typically lasts seconds to a minute or so, longer episodes warrant an exam. If it happens again, gently stroke his neck and try to calm him. Sometimes, pinching the nose gently or blowing into the face can halt a reverse sneezing episode.
