My dog has a red, hairless muzzle. What can I do besides Benadryl?

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Male | 7 years old | 55 lbs

My 7 year old boxer has had a red, hairless muzzle for a couple months now, i took him to our vet shortly after it started but they just recommended benadryl... Is there anything else I can do?

If it is allergy related, try to determine what Lennox is allergic to and decrease or eliminate the responsible allergens. If he eats and drinks from plastic bowls, switch to ceramic or stainless steel bowls. Discuss allergy testing, food elimination trials and hydrolyzed diets with your veterinarian or with a veterinary dermatologist.
