My senior cat pees in bed after stress. Is it a health issue?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Bombay | Male | neutered

My Cat is 17. On Christmas Eve we had family friends come for dinner who brought their dog. This dog peed in the garden which i could tell has bothered my Cat. There was also a "squabble" between the Cat and Dog. After the Dog and the friends left, my Cat took 24hrs to come back to the house. When he did i fed him and hugged to make him feel safe. He has now Peed in my Bed Twice. once over all my pillows and again on the top of the duvet while i was sleeping. How can i stop this?

This isn't a behavioural problem, it's probably a bladder inflammation which cats get due to stress, which he obviously had because of the dog. You will need to take him to the vet in rder to get some medications to reduce the bladder inflammation, he will also need to be on a special diet for about a month to help reducing the bladder inflammation.
