Dog has a burst growth, lost weight. Should I get a second opinion?

golf ball size growth grew and burst rather quickly around anas area. she had mass cell tumor removed about 2yrs ago. area smells very bad. took to vet he very quickly suggested putting her down. also she has lost 30lbs in the last yr or so. vet said it was a tumor that died. he did no test other than visual. she i get another opinion or follow his advice? she also has serious mobility problems.other than constantly wanting to lick area doesnt seem to be in pain. still has appetite and seems hap

Discuss your dog's quality of life with your family and vet. Consider xrays and bloodwork to diagnose the cause of the weight loss. A biopsy of the area at the hind end may also provide information which could aid you with this difficult decision. It could be a treatable infection. A second opinion is not a bad idea in this situation, especially if your dog is eating and "happy".
