How to protect dog paws from cold without booties or expensive cream?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 7 months old | 4 lbs

If I want to protect my little one from the freezing temperatures in Sarajevo, except for dressing her in warm clothes, what should I do to protect her small paws? I can't afford the musher's secret paw protection cream. And I wondered if it would be a good idea to make my own cream since I've seen a video on Facebook? She doesn't tolerate booties. In case of going out, what should I do?

You need to get Bella to get used to the booties. eventually she will tolerate them. Do not give her a chance to remove them. Making her move when she wears them. Start going out for short periods of time, slowly extending the walk time. You can try to also put vaseline on her paws, but it is likely that she will try to lick off the vaseline as, like the booties, it is a foreign body".
