Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 2 years old | 30 lbs

Dog got distemper and bordatela vaccinations yesterday and woke up today with a swelling on the top of his head - is this related?

Any swelling around the face or head can be vaccine-related. However, I typically see swelling after vaccines more closely associated with the muzzle. If Theo is acting normally otherwise (eating/drinking, alert, playful, etc) then I'd give it a bit of time. If no resolution to this swelling after a day, have it checked out.

It might be related, swelling can always be related to vaccination although it is not a common side effects. If it does not bother him, give it 48 hours, if it is a vaccine reaction it should get better by then
