My 5-month puppy is suddenly aggressive to dogs. What can I do now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boston Terrier | Male | neutered | 5 months and 22 days old

My pyppy has become very dog agressive, although he has been socialized before 4 months of age. As soon as he sees a dog he tenses, starts barking and launging. If the dog is close he will try to bite it. It has been getting worse every day since he turned 5 months, before he wouldn't do it. I will be getting professional help, but now its a holiday season so everything is closed. Is there anything I can do right now to prevent the agressive behaviour? Should i also consider nurturing him?

You should definitely have him neutered and getting professional help is a great idea. In the meantime, you could start teaching him the "look" command so you can use this command when you want him to focus on you instead of another dog.
