Pet's info: Dog | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Female
I am wanting to adopt a 2 yr old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (female) from someone. What are good questions to ask and things to look for to make sure I am getting a good, healthy dog?

I would definitely recommend asking the owner: 1) When was the last time she was examined by a veterinarian? Make sure it was within the last 6-12 months 2) Any past hx of illness? Or better yet a copy of her medical records (if possible) 3) Vaccine history, and copies 4) Is she currently on any medications for chronic illness. Then you can have a clause in your adoption paper that will protect you as a new owner. It can indicate that you will have the pet examined by your own vet within 48 hrs and if a congenital defect is found, you are free to return the pet for a full refund. A lot of breeders have this clause also to protect themselves, because if a pet develops a condition later on down the road, they cannot be blamed for selling you a pet with pre-existing conditions.
